Social distancing.... day 71

Sunday 

Today everyone slept really late! I didn’t get up until after 8:00. That was lovely. Siobhan has decided that she wants to watch the show “bones” but she remains a little scared by it. The compromise is that she and I will sleep in the living room together. She sleeps on the cot and I sleep on the couch. It’s a little.... exhausting but I don’t mind. It’s a pandemic so I’ll do what I can to keep her spirits up. 

The weather was fantastic today. We had breakfast outside today. 

We played our one millionth game of backgammon. We’re all getting pretty decent. 

Aisling has her hot Cocoa in her stage manager cup. Sad to think that she didn’t get to do that job this year. 

We had a drive by parade for Bryan’s birthday. (Bryan is the RDA dance studio owner)  That turned into a great visit in the car with him. We haven’t seen him since March. It’s so sad with Connor and abby headed for college in the fall. No real closure to this dance year. 

Connor and abby hung out of the moon roof and cositide with Bryan. Sadly I didn’t think to get a picture of them all. :( 

I hung out in the hammock. That was delightful. 

We also did some yard work. With all three kids helping it went pretty fast! Funny how they’re never home to help before this. I was really impressed with how fast it went and how well they all worked together. 

Connor tried to carry branches vertically. It’s a learning process. :)

Today we also tried to teac Mazie some new tricks. We had mixed results. 

We also had a great game night with my brother as well as some friends. It was a lot of fun 

The New York Times posted this today; 

We are reaching 100.000 deaths. That’s incredible to me and something I am unable to wrap my head around. I have rough days for sure. This weekend has been tough emotionally. But I have to constantly remember how lucky I am that I am not sick and I do not know anyone who is sick. I think that’s amazing. There are protests and people complaining about wearing masks. I will not complain. I struggle with being inside and I struggle with being there 100% for the family but damn I’m lucky to not be burying anyone. I will continue to quarantine as much as they tell us to, to protect my friends and family.

Saturday 

Today was an exhausting day. I was emotional all day and snapped at all of the kids as well as al.  I really hope that soon we are able to head out of here and go camping or something. 

It’s been a lot to have the kids 24/7.  It’s a lot to be asked to ge available 24 hours a day with no break. I felt really exhausted and overwhelmed today. 

At least siobhan and I were able to get outside for a little bit.

Friday 

Today was connors last day of high school. It was an emotional day. I took him to chs for some pictures. 

The students at chs have a tradition where on the last day all the seniors go to a specific place and hang out. It’s very sad that he didn’t get to do that. There were apparently a lot of seniors who *did* do that. That’s frustrating to me. It’s not safe and it’s not respectful. 

The weather was lovely although really hot today! We played a game outside with lunch. 

Siobhan has a birthday parade today. While driving home we saw a huge turkey! 

We ate dinner outside. We also ordered some ice cream sundaes and played games outside to celebrate connors last day. 

After dinner we watched some tv outside as well. 

It was a juice day and a great way to celebrate connors last day today.

Thursday. 

March 14-may 21. 

Today I didn’t have much going on at work so I was able to chill out a little and clean the house. 

It was a beautiful day today. The girls did some work outside 

Siobhan also helped me to hang up the hammock. 

Connor also brought the cat to the hammock. 

It’s possible the cat liked it! 

The animals also enjoyed the wonderful outdoor weather!

Siobhan practiced her make up. This time with a stapler. 

Everyone had dance class at the same time today. Aisling ended up outside but said it was actually really breezy! 

I tried a lovely new drink recipe today (this seems to be increasing during this time...) 

We also had another fun game night for cadences birthday! (The computer is not on fire. It’s a candle behind it!)

Wednesday. 

Today was a pretty general day. Again lots of meetings. Dealing with a kiddo in crisis. Feels like a huge challenge since I can’t be there to help. 

Thankfully we woke up to some snuggles today. 

It was also a gorgeous day for a walk 

It was so nice out that siobhan did her dance class outside today. 

We also hung out outside tonight as played some games. Very thankful for the gorgeous weather.

Tuesday 

Again a busy work day. I also had a webinar this afternoon making the day even longer. 

It was an incredibly trying day as well. Had a report of a student in crisis. It’s so hard because obviously there’s nothing I can do from here. That’s incredibly frustrating. 

Within minutes of hearing that I also learned that a co worker of mine has passed away. Not from covid that I am aware of; but who knows. That was a very emotional day. 

I made a new drink tonight. I experimented with whipped coffee. I’ll have to keep trying.  ;)

it was delicious! 

Al also finally put up his birthday gift! New lights for the deck. They are great! 

Tonight there was also a live broadcast of parts of one of our favorite musicals! It was also the music of my college days so it just brought back memories. We listened to it outside by the fire so all in all very perfect. 

Thankfully it was a great ending to what was otherwise a really terrible day
