Social distancing... day 126

Friday

Aislings sixteenth birthday!!

I honestly cannot believe Aisling is 16. It’s gone by so fast!! On the one hand I can actually totally believe it. She’s mature and amazing. On the other, it seems like just yesterday she was turning four and having a tea party in a fancy new dress. 

I think that being in social distancing actually worked out well for Aisling. She isn’t one for big parties or social engagements and we were forced to keep it small. It felt like a perfect day. 

She had three friends over for a social distancing lunch in the backyard.  They played board games and stayed until about 6:00! A lovely time together. 

Then we did cake and gifts in the evening. We watched some television outside and really had a great time. It was a nice quiet day to celebrate this amazing young lady! 

AiLing is usually gone or between summer events on her birthday. It was wonderful to have a slow paced day to celebrate just her!

The highlight of her day was the arrival of her new irish dance dress!

Overall I think it was an amazing day of celebrating Aisling.

Saturday 

Haircut day! 

Aisling finally was able to hit the salon for a haircut! She looks beautiful!

Sunday 

We had a lovely dinner with poppy again today. We didn’t see him last week because he was in the hospital. But he looked great today. 

Connors dorm housing is once again up in the air. It seems the dorms he was going to be assigned are going to be saved for covid-19 students. So now we wait and see what his housing situation will be. It’s a frustrating situation. 

We’ve also started the process of enrolling siobhan in an online school program. I’m not completely comfortable sending her back and wanted to see what else was out there. We will make the final decision when we know more about offerings for next year but it feels really helpful to have a plan.

Monday 

We’ve had a few days lately. We’ve been working on some home renovations  and celebrated the fourth. 

We’ve been working on adding a bar to our den. 

We also celebrated the Fourth of July with some fun times! We watched Hamilton on a tv that we put outside. It was so fun.

Tuesday 

I did a ton of painting today. I finished the first coat in the den. It’s exciting to be almost done! 

We also finished rinsing the tie dye we made at the lake. 

They came out great! 

Today was also the first day in Massachusetts where there were no deaths of covid. Massachusetts is doing well. Other states are not however. We keep at it and continue to hope for the best.

Sunday 

Sadly we packed up and left the lake today. All good things must end I suppose. 

Siobhan took some awesome pictures of a very happy looking sam. 

We did stop at my dads house for our weekly socially distant dinner. 

He even took his walked out to get a little walk in. It just so happened that the sky opened as he got a little drenched! 

He seems welll. We’re lucky to be able to see him each week.

Saturday 

We were all exhausted today! We slept really late. Just had a pretty chill day at the lake. However we did do some tie dye. 

Siobhan also spent some time with a VR game system. That was pretty fun to watch!
