Social distancing.... day 103

Friday 

Another beautiful day at the lake. Today connor and abby drove here to join us. We had a blast with them here. We played a lot of games today and hung out enjoying each other’s company. 

We also took a little adventure to get some ice cream. 

Social distancing enforced and masks required of course. 

Today we also learned that an uncle of mine who had a stroke last week has been moved to hospice care. It’s terrible to think that our family, and my dad especially, won’t have an opportunity today good bye as they would under normal circumstances. I hope that the family is able to find some way to celebrate his life and have closure even among this pandemic.

Friday

I’ve missed a few days. It’s been busy around here. Work is winding down for me. I have one client that I’ll keep for the summer but other than that everything is mostly done. 

With work being done I’ve started on redeocorating the den. 

We’re going to paint the wood paneling a nice light yellow color. Connor and siobhan have been awfully helpful. :)

Siobhan continues to get more and more independent and has made her own breakfast a few times! 

We were able to see wyatt for his 23rd birthday. It was a little overwhelming and a tad confusing for him. I think it took him a minute to figure out who we were with the masks on. We had to answer questions and then have our temperatures checked. We were given chairs to sit six feet away from him. It was so wonderful to see him but bittersweet not to be able to give him a big hug. He looks happy and healthy so that’s important. 

Given the culture around us lately Girl Scouts held an event for Juneteenth today. It was a great opportunity for the girls to do some thinking and talking about issues in their lives now.  I think they had lots of food conversation! It really was a great event. 

There was also a Virtual camp out tonight for Girl scouts! Such a great event lots of fun activities. Including a sing along! 

Social distancing ...day 90

Friday: TGIF

I can’t believe it’s been 90 days. 

Today was a really slow day of work. I spent some time relaxing. I purchased a new hammock so it was fun to test that out. 

Siobhan hung our in the one next to me. 

We got an update about Wyatt today. Sounds like he’s doing really well! So far there are no positive cases where he is so that’s amazing. 

This evening we took a walk to get some ice cream. It’s nice to see places starting to open back up. It makes me cautiously optimistic. 

Overall it was a pretty good day 

Social distancing.... day 83

Friday

I had very little work to do today so it was a pretty relaxing day. 

Connor spent some time chilling with the kitty. 

I spent a little time repairing masks. 

We also had a black lives matter rally tonight. We decided to go and do our best social distancing. Weird to be protesting while also in a pandemic. We stayed back from the crowd but still felt like we could be part of everything. We couldn’t hear a lot of the speakers but the message was clear. 

I did notice some Police officers kneeling, but some were not. There were no counter protesters which was nice. 

Tonight Conor also had a virtual dance competition. He did not place but I was proud of him for trying. They also showed his duo tonight.

Lots of emotions at the protest. I’m sure it won’t be our last. It will take a while for things to change.
