Social distancing... day 121

Sunday

We had a lovely dinner with poppy again today. We didn’t see him last week because he was in the hospital. But he looked great today.

Connors dorm housing is once again up in the air. It seems the dorms he was going to be assigned are going to be saved for covid-19 students. So now we wait and see what his housing situation will be. It’s a frustrating situation.

We’ve also started the process of enrolling siobhan in an online school program. I’m not completely comfortable sending her back and wanted to see what else was out there. We will make the final decision when we know more about offerings for next year but it feels really helpful to have a plan.

Social distancing..... day 105

Sunday

Sadly we packed up and left the lake today. All good things must end I suppose.
Siobhan took some awesome pictures of a very happy looking sam. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1jeCqPnpJbdQKIRm07opXB4JsRP3CypdBhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1WUJinLYFIOeXe7WSrILYCb_5xLgd7rbihttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1AeeBJiWZFSpM8CxoMNq6Zt8FSrEkp69s

We did stop at my dads house for our weekly socially distant dinner.

He even took his walked out to get a little walk in. It just so happened that the sky opened as he got a little drenched!

He seems welll. We’re lucky to be able to see him each week.

We also watched the senior awards. Connor didn’t earn any senior awards but they showed his picture for student of the month in February. Poppy was thrilled to see that!

Social distancing .... day 85

Sunday

Siobhan was able to go to Sophie’s house for the day. That was... kind of amazing. She and I have been side by side since March and she hasn’t seen any friends. I’m so glad she was able to see her!

Al and I did a lot of yard work, and i helped aisling film her recital video.

We then went to another protest tonight. We need to keep showing up until things change.

Social distancing.... day 71

Sunday
Today everyone slept really late! I didn’t get up until after 8:00. That was lovely. Siobhan has decided that she wants to watch the show “bones” but she remains a little scared by it. The compromise is that she and I will sleep in the living room together. She sleeps on the cot and I sleep on the couch. It’s a little.... exhausting but I don’t mind. It’s a pandemic so I’ll do what I can to keep her spirits up.

The weather was fantastic today. We had breakfast outside today.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1GX5DV6UHtGEmo9KjNMsjLObhuoqOkUwP
We played our one millionth game of backgammon. We’re all getting pretty decent.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=17EPk_9frtqxy5WQofqi3w8v6E_HE0oGc
Aisling has her hot Cocoa in her stage manager cup. Sad to think that she didn’t get to do that job this year.

We had a drive by parade for Bryan’s birthday. (Bryan is the RDA dance studio owner)  That turned into a great visit in the car with him. We haven’t seen him since March. It’s so sad with Connor and abby headed for college in the fall. No real closure to this dance year. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1oTknnN_FjH6eLnmGH7bMb7adyt1q7ERc

Connor and abby hung out of the moon roof and cositide with Bryan. Sadly I didn’t think to get a picture of them all. :(

I hung out in the hammock. That was delightful.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1kPqWqOBxnkUyBgJlYPf-mOxN4XCGjuH5

We also did some yard work. With all three kids helping it went pretty fast! Funny how they’re never home to help before this. I was really impressed with how fast it went and how well they all worked together.

Connor tried to carry branches vertically. It’s a learning process. :)

Today we also tried to teac Mazie some new tricks. We had mixed results.

We also had a great game night with my brother as well as some friends. It was a lot of fun https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1ViXKXmDB934g0Eh0Nbd5SAGQgFqKeO4e

The New York Times posted this today; https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1BScxUnR28APgUKb5KWivYH9D5V8DVEJn

We are reaching 100.000 deaths. That’s incredible to me and something I am unable to wrap my head around. I have rough days for sure. This weekend has been tough emotionally. But I have to constantly remember how lucky I am that I am not sick and I do not know anyone who is sick. I think that’s amazing. There are protests and people complaining about wearing masks. I will not complain. I struggle with being inside and I struggle with being there 100% for the family but damn I’m lucky to not be burying anyone. I will continue to quarantine as much as they tell us to, to protect my friends and family.

Social distancing.... day 65

Sunday

Today the weather was beatiful again. Abby came over for lunch and she and Connor ate outside.

We had our usual Sunday social distancing visit without poppy
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1ySbonHrNxoq8B1jRatswzD8KFmUHAR2P

We played a few games, and connor tried to teach poppy some new tricks, with mixed success.

We watched Obama’s speech from The graduate together experience yesterday. What a powerful
Speech.

It was emotional to watch together. Poppy mentioned that as soon as we are done with this he’s going to get a big hug from Connor. He misses that.

Social distancing ... day 58

Sunday. Mother’s Day.

Today was a great day!! Siobhan let me sleep in today which was so needed. Al made a delicious breakfast!!  The kids played with siobhans spin art machine for a long time.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1a6bnq7AP4eG93sqENV8yJdBfNJIRPsf6https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1YXYpLjdii82jZFci1PqIwlfcWf6Rv-Muhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=10Zr_55jc7uTMhiIWmSvv_dcqh5i0sXgbhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1w3geHQkQlV7YIY-zwWn2Mq0GR2_xET2J
I love that they love it!

Al and I went to Lowe’s and Home Depot today for plants. It was really the first time I’ve been to such a large store really since March. It was weird to see everyone with their masks on.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1B-WMG29REp09ONxqP_Rof--wRhl4eRy_https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1GQMyvSNWZSX22i4BArzI_03sMuUJeobt

Lowes had these signs:
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1UKWOM3dxm9GEimYcYQsFvqu6fBgYdbTJ
And Home Depot was even more drastic. They had security counting and allowing specific numbers of people into the store at a time. We had to wait in line to get in.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1MIkF5thy77ncVylE3OOnnY2fmWSZ_Xir

We were still able to get lots of plants though. So that was good.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1363t67NqkJjKOeMbkkFLdqp6joOAFV7Qhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1IeCEyrw6oMaQHbdrxUAxMR4Z2rFgP8pXhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1Xf40yCOCCyqBzSdkjb3_WV9DxTalJnpN

We passed a testing site on our way to the stores. Long lines to get tested. And according to all a lack of clarity on who gets tested.

We had a bit of a debacle with dinner tonight. But we still had a great meal.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=12sq7YfwPH0gbT-8PFJgPf-J-DqqYPMgE

All in all a really good day. Just the weekend I needed.
