Aisling is eleven!

Aisling's birthday was in July. However, given our timing of things we don't always get to celebrate things as they happen! Just this weekend Aisling was able to finally celebrate with her friends. They had a wonderful time sleeping over. I am so proud of her choice in friends. They are a special group of girls and I am so happy they are all in our lives!

The girls were even willing to include Siobhan in their activities. =)

A little "surprise makeover".... a makeover with a blindfold on!

The results were.... interesting!

The wonderful Suzanne came over to paint the girls' nails as well.
They loved it! And she is not scary at all.  AT ALL.

They all crashed and watched a move before bed.

Breakfast was made by Al with waffles being on the menu!

After breakfast we decided some group pictures were needed.
They decided to try a pyramid. It actually worked!

These girls are just wonderful. Thanks for sharing them with us!  =)

Apple Picking!

We had a lovely trip to Parlee Farms today to grab some apples. Although we just had a brief time to pick apples the weather was beautiful. We really had a great time. We will most definitely be back to this location again!

First up was a hay ride to the apples!

There was a field of beautiful flowers along the way!

The apples were so good!

Dream big!

Siobhan has always had a sense for fashion. Just look through her pictures and you will see a variety of self selected outfits that show her.... Individualism. Lately she has been telling me that she wants to design dance costumes when she is older. I can totally see it!

Yesterday she came out with some fabric that her godmother Julie had given to her. She had a plan to turn that fabric into a dress. While I am sure she could piece it together in her head, I do not have the skill set necessary to help her.

Thankfully we have talented friends! The wonderful and talented Sarah helped Siobhan turn her vision into a reality! What a powerful thing to have your dreams come true! Siobhan was in her element. Needless to say I am sure we will be seeing more with Sarah. There may even need to be a sewing machine in Siobhan's future!

Practicing some straight lines on the machine.
Sewing the hem on her skirt!
The hem is done!
Button hole!
And the finished product!
I can see how exciting it was for her to have an idea turn into reality.
What a cute skirt!
Thanks Sarah for helping siobhan with her dreams! It was an amazing experience for her!

Applause academy!

At the start of the week siobhan began a new camp. She was so anxious about this that she had trouble sleeping. However she ended up having just the best time! She was all smiles this afternoon and I am so proud of her!

Her camp was a theater camp here in chelmsford. She played little bo peep.

Here's to trying new things.

Museum of science

Yes. Everyone was right; it was CRAZY crowded. But I was working from home and trying to manage a lot going on, so yesterday was when we went to the museum of science. We bought a membership so the good thing was we felt like we could spend our time at things without worrying that we would miss other things. We can come back whenever.

Given the crowds we opted to do some more out of the way exhibits. That was cool. We saw the animals of New England, and spent a long time at the alternative energy exhibit, which has a lot of hands on activities. The kids also tried their hands ar building an extreme trampoline. It was a fun trip.

Testing out the best location for solar panels.
Collecting solar energy
The big guy all dressed for Monday's marathon!
Building their trampolines
Getting ready to test how high a golf ball will bounce on the trampoline! The record for the day was 82cm. We had: 47, 24, and 10 I think.

Play ball!

Siobhan has a hard time with new things. She sometimes opts not to try new things that I am sure she will enjoy because she. Just. Can't.

A few weeks ago out of the blue she said she wanted to play baseball. Could it be? Siobhan wanting to try something new? Forget the crimp this would make in our schedule; forget the financial concerns with a new activity; forget the fact that we are not a baseball family... SIOBHAN WANTS TO TRY SOMETHING NEW!!!

Celebrations were had. Baseball pants and balls were purchased and gloves were found.

On the big day she woke up thrilled! "Today is baseball day!" She exclaimed!

Then we arrived at the field.

Tears.

She wanted to leave. I reminded her of that very morning and how excited she had been. She decided to try. She went over and tossed the ball around. She even smiled. A little.

Then they transitioned to a new activity.

She walked off the field in tears.

But then she walked right back on and tried again.

Turned out: she loved it! She had a blast.

It also turned out that she was blessed with a wonderful and understanding set of coaches who clearly loved having her there.

The season could have ended the day it started and I would have considered it a win. I'm so proud of that girl.
