Flowers

Sometimes that eight year old boy of ours drives me nuts. He is a rough and tumble bundle of energy that never stops and can crush anything that gets in his way.

Then, other times, he becomes the sweetest little boy there ever was, and brings me beautiful bouquets of hand picked flowers.

Today was a combination of both of those elements.

I love you Connor. Thanks for being so remarkable.

Stylin!

I am home with Siobhan today (and have been for a few days). She has a weird tummy thing going on. She seems to be feeling okay, but is not allowed at day care until it clears up.

Today I took her out to run some errands. She chose to dress herself for the occasion. As you can see, she has a real head for style:Winter hat, sparkly belt, and sister's rainboots: the perfect attire for a morning of errands!

When you've got it, you've got it!

Fairies

The fairy wrote back! The kids went out this morning to check their box that they had left near the fairy house. Sure enough, there was a note there from a fairy named Blossom. Thanks Fairy, we are looking forward to writing back and forth with you.

When a door closes...

Wow, what an insane year it has been.

You will notice (those of you who have not left for better waters) that I have neglected this poor blog for the past two months. Sadly, there has been some insanity going on in our lives lately. I have had an extremely trying year at work this year. Eventually, although I tried my hardest, I ended up losing my job. The worst part of the whole thing, I think, was that I also lost what I thought was a close friend in the process. I have been working hard at listening to the Lord, and trying to keep in mind the plan I know he has for me. (I only wish I knew what it was!) This past year has taught me the strength of the relationships around me, both friends, family, and my marriage.

This blog is devoted to the laughter and joy that I find in raising a large family. Therefore, I did not want this information to infect the blog posts I was creating. Due to that, and the fact that I was working like a dog to try and save my job, the blog was neglected. Well, neglected no more! I am attempting to come on back and write again. This blog is about my children, and for my children, and I don't want to let that go.

Having four children means that there is never a dull moment. Due to that fact that I will not be able to gather and post all the things that the children have been doing in the past two months. I can tell you that they included:
baseball
cub scout projects
girl scout sleepovers
turning two
getting ice cream from the ice cream truck
playing in the kiddie pool
playing on the swings
piano recitals
watching the marathon
being wonderful curious children

For tonight, I will show you the children writing letters to the fairies. Connor has a friend at school who apparently has a fairy as a pen pal. Connor decided to write to a fairy as well. Coincidentally, while we were prepping the garden, we found a fairy house. (Or the beginnings thereof). Connor and Aisling added to the fairy house and wrote letters to the presumed fairy. I hope he or she writes back! It was simply magical to see them get so excited about it.
And, just for sticking with me, here are some bonus pics:
1) First dinner on the deck!

2) hanging out a brother's baseball game:
3) Being silly at the ice cream stand. So far it is turning into a wonderful summer. I hope you are enjoying yours as much as we are enjoying ours.

Girl time!

Yesterday Aisling's kindergarten class had a field trip. I went along as a chaparone. They went to an amazing puppet show creation of Eric Carle's favorite books: The Mixed up Chameleon, Little Cloud, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It was amazing. This was the group: http://www.mermaidtheatre.ns.ca/ The mermaid theater of Nova Scotia. Incredible.

After the show it was only 1:00. I had taken off the whole day, and it was a beautiful one! Aisling and I decided to skip out of school and have a little girl time. (It was a wrenching decision for her! As she put it (tearily) she had two "options", staying with mommy, or playing with her friends, and they were both good! thankfully, I convinced her to come with me!)

We walked up Church Street in Burlington.

We headed to the mall to use the bathroom, and came across some beautiful pettiskirts in Old Navy. Of course, we had to buy one for her and one for Siobhan! Next we had lunch at Brugger's bagels. Finally we walked up and down the street climbing on rocks. It was a perfect afternoon with my favorite little girl! It was so special to be able to hang out with just Aisling. It's so rare to have one child at a time, and so special when it happens.

Boston, Booger.... whatever

Here's Siobhan adding a little comedy to a typical "Here we go to Boston" routine. (The sound got totally messed up for some reason, but enjoy anyway....)

If you couldn't hear it, when she has her finger in her nose, she says "Boogie". Yeah, super. I am so proud.
